BPS - Statistics of Belitung Regency released data that the poverty in 2018 in Belitung Regency decreased. The Head of BPS of the Belitung Regency, Azhar S.IP said that the percentage of poor people in 2018 was at 7.56 percent.
This figure fell compared to the previous year, which was 2017 which amounted to 7.77 percent.
"That the poverty in Belitung Regency decreased, which was originally 7.77 percent now to be 7.56 percent" he explained when delivering the 2018 poverty data to the Regent of Belitung, Sahani Saleh, S. Sos, Tuesday (12/18/2018).
If in numbers, the number of poor people in Belitung Regency in 2018 is in the range of 14,000 people, decreasing compared to 2017 which amounted to 14,110 people. So that the number of poor people in one year decreased in the range of 110 people.
"The Poverty Depth Index (P1) and the Poverty Severity Index (P2) tend to decrease. P1 decreases from 1.14 in 2017 to 0.59 in 2018, and P2 falls from 0.23 in 2017 to 0.08 in in 2018, "he continued.
The Poverty Depth Index (P1), is a measure of the average expenditure gap of each poor person to the poverty line. The decreasing P1 index illustrates the average expenditure of the poor population moving closer to the poverty line. In Belitung, the poverty line in 2018 is Rp. 704,855 per capita per month, and is the highest in all districts / cities throughout the Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands.
While the Poverty Severity Index (P2) provides an overview of the distribution of spending among the poor. The declining P2 index illustrates expenditure inequality among the poorer population, getting lower.
One of the reasons for poverty reduction is explained by the increasing number of investors entering Belitung, along with the progress of Belitung in the tourism sector, so as to absorb labor, there are employees who work there.
The more investors entering Belitung, the more impact on the increase in economic growth in Belitung, which is in 2017 amounting to 5.29 percent, an increase from the previous year of 4.97 percent. The achievement of the growth rate is also the highest among the districts / cities in the provinces of the Bangka Belitung Islands.
In addition to delivering poverty data, on this occasion the Head of BPS-Statistics Indonesia also requested support for the Population Census (SP2020) in Belitung Regency, a census that covers the entire population which will be implemented in 2020. The Belitung is planned to use digital equipment instead of Belitung. again rely on paper. The digital equipment in question includes smartphone and web applications. "So there will be a capi (computer assisted personal interviewing), that's the plan in the form of an application for Android smartphones, so enumerators can use their own cellphones, not paper" Head of BPS Azhar, S.IP added.
