Abstract

  • In March 2021, the percentage of poor people (people with monthly per capita expenditure below the Poverty Line) in the Bangka Belitung Islands reached 4.90 percent, an increase of 0.01 percentage points compared to September 2020 conditions of 4.89 percent.
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2020 was 3.43 percent, increasing to 3.57 percent in March 2021. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in September 2020 was 6.75 percent, experiencing a decline to 6.63 percent in March 2021.
  • During the period September 2020–March 2021, the number of poor people in urban areas increased by 1.50 thousand people (from 28.38 thousand people in September 2020 to 29.84 thousand people in March 2021), while in rural areas it decreased by 0. 8 thousand people (from 43.67 thousand people in September 2020 to 42.87 thousand people in March 2021).
  • The role of food commodities on the Poverty Line is much greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in March 2021 was recorded at 72.32 percent. This condition is down when compared to conditions in September 2020 which was recorded at 72.72 percent.
  • The types of food commodities that have a major influence on the value of the Poverty Line in urban and rural areas are rice, filter kretek cigarettes, purebred chicken meat, cakes, chicken eggs, and instant noodles. Meanwhile, for non-food commodities, the major impact is the cost of housing, gasoline, electricity, and education.
