Abstract

  • Pangkalpinang City, in March 2021 deflation of 0.12 percent with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 104.18. Of the 90 CPI cities, 58 experienced inflation and 32 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.07 percent with a CPI of 105.53 and the lowest in Banjarmasin and Tangerang at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 107.09 and 105.66, respectively. Meanwhile, the highest deflation was in Bau-Bau with 0.99 percent with CPI 103.38 and the lowest in Palopo at 0.01 percent with CPI of 104.87.
  • Deflation was caused by a decrease in prices as indicated by a fall in the index in several expenditure groups, namely: the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group by 0.02 percent; the transportation group of 0.90 percent; the information, communication and financial services group of 0.46 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group by 1.54 percent; and personal care and other services group of 0.04 percent. While the groups that experienced inflation were the food, beverage and tobacco group by 0.12 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.55 percent; equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group by 0.02 percent; the health group of 0.11 percent; and also the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the education group was stable or did not experience a change in index.
  • The calendar year March 2021 experienced inflation of 0.72 percent and year on year (March 2021 against March 2020) also inflation of 0.89 percent.
  • The energy component in March 2021 did not experience a change in index with the CPI of 101.08. The foodstuff component of inflation was 0.14 percent with a CPI of 107.42.
