In July 2021, Pangkalpinang City experienced a deflation of 0.32 percent, with calendar year inflation of 1.15 percent and year-on-year of 1.48 percent.

Abstract

Pangkalpinang City, in July 2021 deflation was 0.32 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 104.63. Of the 90 CPI cities, 61 cities experienced inflation and 29 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sorong at 1.51 percent with a CPI of 108, and the lowest was in Sampit at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 107.10. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari of 0.60 percent with a CPI of 109.89 and the lowest was in Maumere and Samarinda of 0.01 percent with a CPI of 106.65 and 105.69, respectively.
Deflation was caused by a decline in prices as indicated by a decrease in indexes in several expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco by 1.13 percent; transportation group by 0.02 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.31 percent. Meanwhile, inflation occurred in the clothing and footwear category by 0.26 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups by 0.16 percent; information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by 0.01 percent; education group by 0.46 percent; and the group providing food and beverages/restaurants by 0.24 percent. Meanwhile, the household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group and the health group were stable or did not experience changes in the index.
The largest contributor to deflation was green mustard, kale and spinach.
The calendar year July 2021 experienced inflation of 1.15 percent and year on year (July 2021 to July 2020) also inflation of 1.48 percent.
The energy component in July 2021 did not change the index with a CPI of 101.08. Meanwhile, the deflationary foodstuff component was 1.66 percent with a CPI of 106.98.

In May 2021, Pangkalpinang City experienced inflation of 0.23 percent, with calendar year inflation of 1.25 percent and year-on-year of 1.85 percent.
